Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in both film, television and the theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer from The Showtime program Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name after her wedding. While growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. In the Maryland high school event during her first years of education she received the award for best actress. Following her time in the theater and with 'The Washington Ballet Company' she received a master's degree in acting from 'New York University. She received a lot of praise after her debut large performance in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark were followed by Boogie Nights Spark. Soul Food was an immensely well-loved TV show. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. In the beginning of her career she appeared in a variety of stage productions. Parker has been active in politics and married model and actor Boris Kodjoe. They have two children.

Contractor was born in Mumbai and resided in Nigeria over seven years, experienced a variety of trips and experiences in the world of culture at very young. At the age of seven until nine, Contractor attended boarding schools in London. Her family then relocated to Toronto which she stayed in for most of her childhood. Contractor trained and eventually became an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts an specialized arts public high school in which she was not just a dancer but studied theater as well. Contractor started acting at the age of 16, following nearly 10 years of dance. As soon as she finished her high school education, she was awarded an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed a Masters in Theatre and she also double-majored in sociology and psychology. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the production Pericles in the highly regarded and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the lead role. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 performances of Pericles. Contractor was offered the opportunity to enroll in Stratford's conservatory course, in which a select eight men and four females are selected for a 20-week crash course in classical theatre, which she was eager to take. Contractor's place in the following production was secured, and she won the role in the play as Hermia.
